Does anyone know what WordPress means when it says: “Unable to create directory… Is its parent directory writable by the server?” All I know is that it means I can’t upload photos which means that it is impossible to really show/tell you guys anything. Hopefully it will all be sorted out soon. In the meantime, how was everyone else’s weekend? I’m working hard to compile all my tax receipts. See, there is definitely a reason that I need to be able to show pictures! Just know that I had a fun filled, productive, home improvement weekend and I can’t wait to share the progress with you guys!

xoxo,

I’ve been between a headache and a migraine for four days now. Each day I wake up hoping that it’s gone and then feel a horrible pain. Each day I desperately hope that it won’t turn into a full-out migraine. But yesterday, despite everything, Meg was able to make me smile by giving me my first blog award. I’m so flattered and excited to know that someone out there enjoys the things that Peter and I are putting out into cyberspace.

So, here are ten of the millions of things that I’m happy about right now:

1. My darling fiance

2. My friends, family, and future family who always care about everything in my life, both big and small.

3. Our silly puppies (of course they fall into the above category as well)

4. Our cappuccino maker and homemade muffins

5. Silence–I listen to music all day every weekday for my job. It may sound fabulous but I can’t tell you how much I appreciate silence now.

6. Fondue–it’s my favorite food.

7. Thrift Stores and Vintage knick-knacks

8. Crafting and Refurbishing Furniture

9. Fun Blogs

10. Traveling

Now on to you! Here are ten of the blogs that I absolutely adore–other than House Notes, of course. (You know I can’t say “absolutely adore” without thinking of It Takes Two? Hmm…)

On an unrelated note, I’m using wordpress.org and for some reason my blog doesn’t recognize when other people link to me. Has anyone else experience this problem? I have a section of my dashboard dedicated to this but it doesn’t work. It’s bizarre. Anyway, if you have an answer, I’d love to hear it!

I hope everyone has a fabulous day!

We’ve experienced a complete blog makeover! For the past few months Peter and I have been working with a fabulous graphic designer to transform out little piece of the web into something beautiful. DangerDom Studios did such a great job interpreting my wants and needs into a beautiful space. It’s such a joy to log on and look at something that feels soothing rather than scraped together. Since we all love a good before and after, here is a screen shot of the blog before and one of it now:

Pretty amazing, huh? It’s a fresh new start for a fresh new year. I love beautiful design. I use Google Reader to stay on top of all of my blog reading but if a site is really pretty I will visit it everyday. I just can’t get enough of looking at pretty things. So you can see why I’m so excited about this beautiful space that DangerDom has created for us to share our words, thoughts, and home. I hope you’re happy with it too! Happy Reading!

Or at least our blog is. We’ve been playing around with new headers, the colors of ours ads, and plugins. What do you guys think? I don’t know about you but I LOVE visiting beautiful blogs and websites. Somehow the aesthetics just make me happier. We’re a far way off from where we’d like our little blog to be but as we make changes we’d love to hear your input. Does the twitter plugin that I just installed along the sidebar drive you crazy? Let me know and I’ll make it go away. Basically, we’re just trying to do whatever we can to make our blog more user-friendly for you.

We have some really exciting content to share with you this week so keep visiting!

If you happened to try to visit our site anytime between late last night and early this morning (yes, I’m giving you the specifics), then you probably noticed that it was down. I tried to make changes to the code so that all of you fabulous readers could see our tweets when, all of a sudden, I killed the site. It was terrifying! I thought that all of our posts were gone forever! I hoped and prayed for an undo button–why doesn’t everything in life have an undo button?– but it was gone. So, I started emailing every technologically savvy person that I know as well as posting on forums asking what to do. I felt like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City when she gets a virus and the everything on her computer is lost forever.

Eventually, my brother, David, was able to get back to us and fix the site. David is our hero today but I’ve realized that, even though we don’t have too much material, back-ups are invaluable. I’m lucky that we’re learning this lesson after only 30 something posts rather than after 130 something. If you don’t know how to backup your WordPress site, then make a quick trip here to find out all the steps.

In tribute to David and his save-the-day move: here’s a picture of the two of us getting rained on at ACL!

Yay David! Thanks again!
