If you happened to try to visit our site anytime between late last night and early this morning (yes, I’m giving you the specifics), then you probably noticed that it was down. I tried to make changes to the code so that all of you fabulous readers could see our tweets when, all of a sudden, I killed the site. It was terrifying! I thought that all of our posts were gone forever! I hoped and prayed for an undo button–why doesn’t everything in life have an undo button?– but it was gone. So, I started emailing every technologically savvy person that I know as well as posting on forums asking what to do. I felt like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City when she gets a virus and the everything on her computer is lost forever.
Eventually, my brother, David, was able to get back to us and fix the site. David is our hero today but I’ve realized that, even though we don’t have too much material, back-ups are invaluable. I’m lucky that we’re learning this lesson after only 30 something posts rather than after 130 something. If you don’t know how to backup your WordPress site, then make a quick trip here to find out all the steps.
In tribute to David and his save-the-day move: here’s a picture of the two of us getting rained on at ACL!

Yay David! Thanks again!

The Centsational Girl is hosting a giveaway for Price Pfister faucets that lasts until tomorrow night. OK, so faucets don’t sound too exciting but these ones are. Peter and I are a little bit obsessed with the Cadenza. We haven’t started on the kitchen portion of the condo but I know that this faucet would add instant elegance.

Check out this giveaway for yourself and then report back. If you don’t already read her blog then you definitely should. She posts some pretty awe-worthy DIY projects. Which faucet are you hoping to win? Good luck everyone!
I came across a fabulous blog today called Thrifty Little Blog. It is about a girl who bought a house and is trying to fix it up. This comes at a great time since just last night Peter and I started talking about saving money to buy a house. The author of the blog has some great insight into the world of buying a house as well as some quick tricks to save money. If any of these things interest you then it is definitely worth reading. Soon we’ll share our money saving plans to ensure that we can afford a down payment on our first house!

In the past year Peter and I have had our fair share of BIG steps in our relationship: we got a dog, I met his parents, we moved in together, he spent his first holiday away from his family (Thanksgiving), we got another dog, I spent my first holiday away from my family (Christmas), he was there to watch me graduate and watch me get my first job, we took our first vacation together, he asked me to marry him (!!), we picked out a ring together, we’re decorating together, we’re buying a car together, I’m about to watch him graduate with his PhD, and now, I feel like we’re ready to take one more big step and start this blog. Our families and friends seem to slowly be moving further and further away and I know that everyone (humor me here) wants to know what we’re up to all the time. Join us as we decorate our place, plan our wedding, and figure out life–but be nice because we’re still learning.
