Have you ever had something really big that was unfolding before you and all you wanted to do was ignore all of it and watch girly TV? It’s not that I’m not excited. I really am. The adventure seems great, but it just doesn’t even seem like it’s really happening.

Peter and I finally booked a trip to San Francisco. Can you believe that neither of us has ever been? I couldn’t be more excited. In my heart of hearts I imagine San Francisco to be a place that I would love to live. I guess we’ll find out during this trip. I’m a little nervous about the cold, but really excited for an opportunity to wear this jacket that Peter recently bought me.

Any suggestions on things to do? Places to stay? We’ll also be stopping through Sonoma for a couple of days.

For those of you who don’t know, ranunculus are my favorite flower. In fact, I was quoted saying that in the New York Times. Apparently if I go down in history as anything, it will be a girl who loves ranunculus. Talk about official!

We even included them in our wedding flowers. Something about their little wonky heads and plethora or petals gets me every time.

(A note on the photo in the background: we got a couple of really beautiful Kate Spade frames as wedding gifts, but we haven’t gotten around to printing a single wedding photo. We’ll get to it soon.)
Tonight Peter surprised me with this lovely bouquet of ranunculus. I asked him why he bought them for me and he explained that it was for putting up with him lately. You see, he’s been quite preoccupied with work for the past few weeks. I told him that I thought I deserved them too.
Obviously I was teasing, but they are lovely to have around.

From where I’m sitting right now I can see a green little house plant, a sprig of greens from our supper club, our dried wedding flowers, a single rose, a bouquet or irises, and my new bouquet of ranunculus. I have to say, I feel quite loved.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!! What were you all up to? I worked from home today and Peter made me a fantastic breakfast of baked peaches and fresh whipped cream. Delicious!

Now Peter’s at work, but I have a surprise night of crafting Valentine’s for when he gets home. It’s kind of silly and pretty cheesy but I’m sure he’ll be into it.
Before I go, I have to ask: What do you all think of Anthropologie’s new bridal line BHLDN? I’m not a fan of the wedding gowns (probably a good thing since I don’t need one) but I love the shoes and some of the party dresses! I have one picked out as a potential bridesmaid ‘s dress. I’d love to hear what you all think of their new line! I’ll leave you with this picture from their website. I’m still not sure what the model is doing.

For Christmas, my sister-in-law, Vanessa, gave Peter and me the Q & A a Day by Potter Style. The five year journal prompts a question a day with ample space for five answers. Each year, you are meant to answer the questions and then start over at the beginning of the book on January 1st. Vanessa gave us this thoughtful gift so that Peter and I could go through it and answer the questions together. I presume that we’ll be shocked by how we change over the first five years of our marriage!
Because each slot begins with “20__” you can start the book at any time during the year, making it a great gift for Valentine’s day! Peter and I enjoy answering our question together each night. Sometimes our answers speak to our individual situations and sometimes they reflect on where we are as a couple. Regardless, it usually sparks a fun coversation before we go to sleep.

Thanks Vanessa!
